The programme of the "International Sports Committee For Seafarers" is based on the ILO Seafarers' Welfare Convention 163 (1987) and Recommendation 173 (1987) that defines and specifies welfare facilities and services to be provided to seafarers. The term welfare facilities and services mean welfare, cultural, recreational and information facilities and services.
The International Sport for Seafarers (ISS) committee was founded in 1976 and incorporated as a standing Sub-committee of the "International Committee on Seafarers' Welfare" in 1992.
Our members are seafarers' welfare organizations from churches, unions, national and independent organizations.
